The wheel (12) is borne by a pivot (18) connected to a substantially vertical strut (20) by means (44, 46) of articulation about an axis of pivoting of the wheel. The strut (20) is connected to the body (36) of the vehicle by two substantially horizontal superimposed arms (38, 40) articulated via their ends to the strut and the body of the vehicle. The strut (20) includes a first end (22, 24) bearing the means (44, 46) of articulation of the pivot (18), arranged inside the contour of the wheel rim (14) of the wheel and articulated to the corresponding end of the lower arm (40), and a second end (26) arranged substantially above the wheel (12) and articulated to the corresponding end of the upper arm (38).
