PURPOSE:To obtain an excellent printing result having a high quality level by displaying no ink information after recording number of sheets not exceeding N when sensed residual ink becomes lowest necessary amount for recording the predetermined number N of sheets and stopping recording until ink replacement. CONSTITUTION:An ink sensor is arranged at a position where 'no ink' is sensed when one medium to be recorded can be printed from sensing of the 'no ink'. When a 'no ink' flag is first observed by a print signal and there is no flag, a medium to be recorded of an uppermost position is conveyed to a printable position. Then, reception data is converted to print data and stored. Thereafter, when the 'no ink' flag is observed and there is no flag, a predetermined ink of an ink tank is sensed, and when 'none' is judged, the 'no ink' flag is stopped and stored. It is transferred to a printing operation irrespective of the 'no ink' flag, and a sheet is discharged when a sheet discharge command or a sub-scanning amount exceeds a predetermined amount. After the sheet is discharged, when there is the 'no ink' flag, 'no ink' is displayed on an operation panel, an operation of an apparatus is stopped, and waited until ink is replaced. |
