<p>PURPOSE:To transmit a picture by a variable length encoding through a satellite communication line. CONSTITUTION:On the picture transmission side, a synchronization adding circuit 26 adds a synchronizing signal indicating the head of an encoding block. The synchronizing signal includes block number information. On the receiving side, a memory 36 sequentially stores demodulation data outputted from a demodulation circuit 34. A synchronization detecting circuit 40 detects the synchronizing signal and applies its block number to a pointer memory 42 as an address. The memory 42 stores the writing address of the memory 36 in accordance with the output of the circuit 40. A block number generating circuit 46 sequentially generates block numbers and the memory 42 loads a storage address corresponding to each block number to a reading address generating circuit 44. After the loading of respective addresses, the circuit 44 sequentially updates the addresses. Data stored in the memory 36 are read out to a variable length decoding circuit 48 in accordance with each reading address.</p> |
