The invention relates to a method for cleaning a circulating fabric web, in particular a wire web or a felt web, preferably in a paper or board machine, by means of at least one medium which is under pressure, the supply of the medium, in particular at least one jet of medium, being guided or moved transversely to the running direction of the fabric web. The method is primarily characterised in that application is made of at least one further medium, preferably under pressure, which is guided or moved transversely to the running direction of the fabric web and which preferably differs from the abovementioned medium, in particular in respect of the composition and/or in terms of the material and/or in terms of the type of application. Furthermore, the invention relates to a device for carrying out the abovementioned method. This device is equipped with at least one medium supply device, in particular a spray nozzle, which can be directed, or is directed, towards the fabric web and has a connection for pressurised medium, preferably having a traversing unit for moving the medium supply device, in particular nozzle, transversely to the running direction of the fabric web, and is characterised in that a medium supply device, in particular nozzle, is provided for at least one further medium which can be directed, or is directed, towards the fabric web.
