摘要 A transparent solar control glazing panel comprises a substrate (12) and coated thereon:- i) a first layer (14) comprising a non-absorbent material; ii) a second layer (16) selected from materials for which, over the wavelength ( lambda ) range 380 to 780 nm, the spectral absorption index k( lambda ) is greater than the refractive index n( lambda ) and at the wavelength ( lambda ) of 550 nm, the spectral absorption index k( lambda ) is greater than 1.67 times the refractive index n( lambda ); iii) a third layer (18) comprising an absorbent material for which, over the wavelength ( lambda ) range 380 to 780 nm, the spectral absorption index k( lambda ) lies between 0.3 and 1.0 times the refractive index n( lambda ) of the material and having a thickness such that, when applied as the only coating on a 6 mm thick soda-glass substrate, the luminous transmission factor T<L> thereof is reduced by at least 30%; and iv) a fourth layer (20) comprising a non-absorbent material. The material of the second layer may be Al, Cu, Au, Ni, Ag or mixtures thereof; and the material of the third layer may be tungsten, stainless steel, or nitrides of Ti, Cr, Al/Ti alloys and stainless steel. The non-absorbent material of the first and fourth layers may be nitrides of silicon and aluminium oxynitride, oxides of Al, Bi, Cr, Si, Sn, Ti, Y and Zn, but other materials are specified. It is preferred that the material of the first and fourth layers is the same, eg ZnO, Sn2 or TiO2. A layer of sacrificial metal selected from Al, Bi, Cr, Sn, Ti, Zn may be positioned between the second and third layers. <IMAGE>
