The invention relates to a device for determining the gas concentration of a liquid containing a gas, in particular the carbon dioxide content of a beverage, it being intended for the device to be designed with regard to its construction and its handling more simply and furthermore in a manner which is more convenient to clean than known devices. This is guaranteed in that a sample space (5) has a fixed volume which can be increased in defined fashion by a variable volume of a relaxation space (7b) provided in a relaxation device (7), the variation taking place by positional variation of at least one wall (7a; 7g) bounding the relaxation space (7d), and the relaxation space (7b) being connected to the sample space (5) via a first opening (7f), either indirectly via a connecting line (7e) or directly, and in that actuation devices (7c, 7d; 7h) are provided for positional variation of the wall (7a; 7g) (Figure 1). <IMAGE>
