An aqueous recording solution for ink jet printing contains: a pigment; at least one of a water-soluble organic solvent and a water-soluble organic compound; water; and a dispersant having a molecular weight of 200 to 2, 000, the dispersant being represented by formula (I): wherein R¹ represents a substituent, L¹ represents a single bond or a divalent linking group, R² and R³ each independently represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent, n represents an integer of 1 or more, and M represents a hydrogen atom or a monovalent cation, provided that R¹, R² and R³ do not have a sulfo group, and the total number of carbon atoms of R¹, R² and R³ is 13 or more.
