Friction false-twisting device using counter-rotating discs

A friction false-twisting device for synthetic yarn comprises two oppositely-rotating discs, one rigid and one flexible, between which the yarn is gripped, as described in 3147966. The discs are mounted on the ends of two crank arms which are mounted coaxially in a U-shaped holder, whereby the relative positions of the discs may be varied.The crank arm carrying the flexible disc is mounted on a hollow axle in which is an axially-concentric bush with an eccentric hole. In the hole is housed a pneumatically-operated presser foot which presses the flexible disc locally against the rigid disc to grip the yarn. The bush is rotatable between two positions 180 deg. apart.This construction allows the direction and degree of twist in the yarn to be altered by adjusting the relative positions of the discs, whilst the position of the presser foot remains fixed
