This device relates to limiting the steering angle of a wheel 1, the pivot 2 of which is connected via a steering rod 4 to a rack rod 3 sliding in a housing 7. The steering angle is limited by a conventional limit stop means (8, 7a) between the rod and the housing in conventional use of the vehicle, and when the wheel occupies extreme positions of vertical deflection greater limitation in the steering angle is provided through the interaction of a limit stop piece 9 secured to the steering rod 4 with an edge 10 of the housing. This device applies to vehicles equipped with rack-type steering systems and makes it possible to reduce their turning circle for parking manoeuvres. <IMAGE>
