Method and device for sorting waste mixtures.

The sorting system uses electromagnetic and/or acoustic waves directed onto the waste material, the received waves being evaluated electronically, to identify objects within the waste material mixture. The latter is supplied to a transport path in loose form or in a bale. The waste material is irradiated with visible, and/or UV and/or IR light. The bale is opened to allow a major fraction to be identified and removed, with subsequent identification and sorting of the remainder. Pref. the major fraction of the waste material is identified from its texture, colour and/or structure.
