PURPOSE:To realize the good display having a wide effective visual field angle by forming respectively segmented regions facing each other in pixel regions of the materials same as each other and subjecting these materials to the same treatment. CONSTITUTION:This liquid crystal display element is provided with a liquid crystal consisting of a pair of substrates 10 arranged to oppose the main surfaces formed with oriented films 12 to each other and a liquid crystal material 15 clamped between these substrates 10. The pixel regions of the respective oriented films 12 are segmented to the two regions varying in the rising direction of liquid crystal molecules and the respective regions facing each other consist of the materials same as each other and are subjected to the same treatment. As a result, the rising directions of the liquid crystal molecules in the pixel regions on the oriented films 12 are changed and the differences in the visual field angle within the plane are compensated with each other. Then, the effective visual field angle is widened. Namely, the phenomenon that an optimum common potential is drifted by active matrix driving is admitted and such a display defect as flicker or seizure is eliminated. |
