A particulate inorganic material, is coated with a combination of a natural or synthetic polymeric material and a pigment or dye (other than carbon black alone) the polymeric material being present in the coating in an amount of from 1% to 10% by weight, based on the weight of dry inorganic material. The inorganic material may be a kaolinitic clay, CaCO3, a silicate of Al and/or Ca, bauxite, talc, mica, Al2O33H2O, SiO2, MgCO3, Mg(OH)2, a double carbonate of Ca and Mg, CaSO4 or TiO2. The polymer may be polyvinylacetate, polymethylmethacrylate, or polystyrene. |
