Process for producing in continuous travel an especially filiform steel section product, according to which a thermomechanical treatment of a material which is also a section is performed, consisting in heating, in cooling and simultaneously in drawing the said material. The thermomechanical treatment is a so-called patenting drawing thermomechanical treatment in which an operation of austenitisation of the section material is performed by raising its temperature above the temperature of total austenitisation Ac3, higher than 750 DEG C and at a heating rate higher than 100 DEG C/s, the section material is quenched at a temperature lower than the temperature of total austenitisation Ac3 to stabilise perlite formation, the temperature of the section material is stabilised to form a microstructure of fine perlitic type, the section material is cooled to ambient temperature and simultaneously with the heat treatment a mechanical traction is applied to the section material to reduce the cross-section of the said section material and to obtain the cold-workable product when cold.
