Hand-operatable pump for feed pumps of fuel injection systems for internal combustion engines with a pump piston (3) fixed to the housing of the feed pump and forming a connection piece on its fuel line system, on which piston a pump cylinder (1) serving as operating element is arranged so that it is axially displaceable. At the same time a pump working chamber (7) is defined between the closed end face (9) of the pump cylinder (1) and the end face (5) of the pump piston (3), which chamber is connected to the fuel line system by way of a through-bore (11) in the pump piston (3) containing a pressure valve (17). The displacement of the pump cylinder (1) by way of the pump piston (3) in accordance with the invention at the same time makes it possible to significantly reduce the number of pump parts, its overall size and the cost of manufacture. <IMAGE>
