A spring pressure brake (3) has a brake backplate (17) in engagement with an electromagnet (11). The brake backplate (17) is rigidly linked to a brake piston (18) which extends through the electromagnet (11). The front face of the brake piston (18) is designed as a braking surface. The rear section of the brake piston (18) is in engagement with a lockable unlocking device (19) which allows the braking effect of the brake piston (18) to be manually suspended.
