<p>An improved armature assembly (14) includes an armature stack (22) mounted coaxially with a rotatable shaft (26). Conductive windings (30) are disposed in the armature stack (22) in accordance with a preselected winding sequence. The conductive windings (30) include end turns (54) which extend longitudinally beyond the armature stack (22). End plates (68a, 68b) includes an integral banding ring in the form of a retaining flange (72) located radially outwardly of, and in a supporting relation to, the end turns (54). Each end band further includes a centrally located aperture (64) which is adapted to receive the rotatable shaft (26) and maintain concentricity of between end plate (68a, 68b), the armature stack (22) and the rotatable shaft (26).</p> |
