PURPOSE:To provide a novel compound which gives a clear resin useful as plastic lenses and optical disk bases because of its excellent refractory index, optical isotropy and heat resistance. CONSTITUTION:A compound of formula I [X is II, III (R1, R2 are H, lower alkyl; R3 is H, methyl)], for example, diallyl phenylindane-dicarboxylate. The compound of formula I where X is formula II is obtained by coupling of potassium phenylindanedicarboxylate with allyl chloride in a solvent, or coupling of phenylindanedicarboxylic acid with allyl alcohol under an acidic condition. The compound of formula I where X is formula III is obtained, for example, by coupling reaction of bisphenolfluorene dihydroxyethyl ether to allyl chloroformate in the presence of pyridine in a solvent. |
