Previous electrical air ionisers also produce by-products as well as the useful ions, such as hazardous ozone, for example. The proposed air ioniser produces negative air ions without at the same time producing by-products, which are hazardous to people, such as those mentioned above. The air ions are free in that water is accelerated by means of rotation energy or the like and is flung against a hard object in the appliance. In this case, negative "hydroions" are produced which can be absorbed better and more quickly by the human lung that the ions produced by electricity. The proposed air ioniser is used as an inhalation appliance, but primarily as a means of improving the air in living rooms, offices, hospitals etc.
