PURPOSE: An output-controlling method of a broadcasting receiver and the broadcasting receiver adopting the same are provided to control the automatic detection of an output screen rate if output screen rate information of a broadcasting signal is not fitted to an output screen rate of a real broadcasting signal. CONSTITUTION: A broadcasting receiver images a broadcasting signal by receiving the signal which a service provider provided. The broadcasting receiver detects a pattern displayed on a fixed area of the broadcasting signal(S302). The broadcasting receiver determines a detected pattern by comparing with a pre-stored pattern and determines a distortion of the detected pattern(S303). If the detected pattern is distorted, the broadcasting receiver controls the output screen rate of a broadcasting signal(S304). If the detected pattern is not distorted, the broadcasting receiver displays the broadcasting signal in an output screen rate(S305).
