The physical training apparatus comprises two sliding plates (21, 22) mounted on an elongate frame (10, 10a) and which are mounted so as to be movable by sliding along a sliding track (12) of the elongate frame (10, 10a), and a pair of belt wheels (31, 32) mounted rotatably on the elongate frame (10, 10a) between the sliding plates (21, 22) and which are fastened to a respective one of the belt wheels (31, 32). Each of the belt units (41, 42) has one end fixed to a respective one of the sliding plates (21, 22). A pair of spiral springs (51, 52) are arranged, respectively, on the belt wheels (31, 32) and stress the belt wheels (31, 32) so as to roll up the belt units (41, 42) on the belt wheels (31, 32) and to pull the sliding plates (21, 22) towards each other. <IMAGE>
