The invention relates to an instrument for measuring the maximum flow quantity during expiration which can be assembled or disassembled manually in a simple, quick manner, so that simple, inexpensive production is possible, on the one hand, and complete cleaning of the instrument is possible, on the other hand, so that hygienic use is guaranteed. The instrument housing comprises two housing halves (12 and 22). The first housing half (12) has a projection (18) which engages in a recess (24) in the second housing half (22) when the housing is assembled. Furthermore, the two housing halves (12 and 22) each comprise an extension (20 and 26, respectively) which rest against each other when the housing is assembled. For the purpose of assembly, the projection (18) arranged on the first housing half (12) is pivoted into the recess (24) arranged on the second housing half (22), so that the two housing halves (12 and 22) are joined and the two extensions (20 and 26) rest against each other. Thereupon, a retaining element is pushed on to the two extensions (20 and 26) and releasably locked with a securing element. For disassembly, the securing element is released from the retaining element, the retaining element is removed from the two extensions (20 and 26) resting against each other, and the two housing halves (12 and 22) are subsequently pivoted away from one another, so that the projection (18) slides out of the recess (24). <IMAGE>
