In order to separate conveying suction air from a fluid-solid mixture in dental aspirator-separators, the fluid medium separated from the suction air is caused to rotate and extracted by a driven extractor (4) through a check valve arrangement (10) into a region (7) of normal pressure. The underpressure of the suction air is applied to the check valve arrangement (10) in the closing direction and the pressure from the fluid medium to be extracted which is accelerated against the closing direction is applied to said valve (10). The check valve arrangement (10) preferably rotates as well and is allocated to an annular discharge slot (22) as a surrounding outlet (5) from the underpressure region (6).
