Prepn. of trialkylsilyl nitrile (A) comprises reacting (a) trialkylsilyl halide, and (b) hexaalkyldisilazane with (c) HCN under anhydrous conditions: Molar ratio of (a):(b):(c) is 1:1:3. Also claimed are the following: (a) prepn. of (A) by reaction of (a) and (d) trialkylsilyl amine with (c) the molar ratio of (a):(d):(c) being 1:1:2; (2) prepn. of (R1)(R2)2 Si-CN by reaction of (R1)(R2)2Si-X and (R1)(R2)2Si-N-H-Si(R1)(R2)2 with HCN. X = Cl, Br, or I; R1 = t-butyl or aryl; and R2 = 1-6C alkyl; (3) prepn. of (R1)(R2)Si-CN by reacting (R1)(R2)2 Si-X and (R1)(R2)2Si-NH2 with HCN; X, R1 and R2 being as defined; (4) prepn. of (R)3Si-CN by reacting (R)3Si-X and (R)3Si-NH with HCN; X being as defined and R - 1-6C alkyl; (5) prepn. of (R)3Si-CN by reacting (R)3-Si-X and (R)3Si-NH2 with HCN; X and R being as defined; (6) an anhydrous reaction mixt. for the prepn. of (R1)(R2)2Si-CN consisting of HCN, (R1)(R2)2Si-X and (R1)(R2)2Si-N-H-Si(R1)(R2)2 or (R1)(R2)2Si-NH2; X, R1 and R2 being as defined; and (7) an anhydrous reaction mixt. for the prepn. of (R)3Si-CN consisting of HCN, (R)3Si-X and (R)3Si-NH-Si(R)3 or (R)3Si-NH2; X and R being as defined. |
