摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain an optical recording medium enabling high density recording and reproduction by successively providing a recording layer consisting of a light absorbing substance and a polymeric compd. having specific melt viscosity and a high glass transition point and a protective layer on a support. CONSTITUTION:A recording layer 3 and a protective layer 4 are successively laminated to one surface of a flexible base film 2 and a back coat layer 5 is laminated to the other surface of the base film 2 to produce an optical recording medium 1. The recording layer 3 is formed from a light absorbing substance and a polymeric compd. and it is necessary that the relation between the melt viscosity MV (pores) and glass transition point Tg( deg.C) of the polymeric compd. satisfies 0.023log(MV)+0.002Tg <=0.274. By this constitution, the width of a signal recording pattern can be reduced and, as a result, a track pitch can be made small. As a suitable example of the light absorbing substance, there is a cyanine dye or a naphthoquinone dye. As a suitable example of the polymeric compd., there is a methacrylate resin or a vinyl resin.
