PURPOSE:To obtain an optical fiber having good transparency, little transmission loss, excellent bending resistance, heat resistance and weather resistance, and good productivity by using a specified material as the core component and covering the core with a polymer clad having lower refractive index by a specified value or more than the refractive index of the core. CONSTITUTION:The core component is a copolymer of a compsn. consisting of 10-60 pts.wt. of aliphatic or alicyclic urethane poly(meth)acrylate having two or more (meth)acryloyloxy groups in one molecule, 20-80 pts.wt. of compd. expressed by formula, 5-40 pts.wt. of aliphatic or alicyclic compd. having at least one radical polymerizable double bond in one molecule, and 0.005-5 pts.wt. of active energy ray-sensitive catalyst (however, total amt. of these is 100 pts.wt.). Then a polymer having lower refractive index by 0.01 than the refractive index of the core component is used as the clad. In formula, R1 and R2 are hydrogen or methyl groups, R3 is a straight-chain or branched-chain satd. hydrocarbon group of 2-5 carbon number, and n is an integer 5-30. |
