The present invention concerns a rotary engine wherein a connecting rod mechanism (6) acts as the force-transmitting means to an output shaft (4). In conventional rotary engines the shape of the rotor varies during the power stroke, the aspect of the force-transmitting means to the output shaft changes and the lever length of the rotating force-transmitting mechanism varies. Moreover, the output shaft is mounted on bearings at the center of chamber block, whereby drive force losses occur. In the rotary engine according to the invention, the rotor (1) has a fixed shape and the movements of the engine rotor are arranged to occur alternatingly about two different support points (P2, P3), and that the rotor connecting rod mechanism which rotates the output shaft (4) during the power stroke is arranged to utilize a long lever principle of nonarticulated rigid connection rods by virtue of locating the pivotal support point (P2) of the engine output shaft, and thus the distal end of the lever arm extending from said support point, to both sides of the chamber block center point so as to make the distal end (B) of the lever arm which transmits the rotating force exerted by the rotor to be farther distanced from the rotor motion support point (P2) than from the chamber block center point. |
