PURPOSE:To stabilize the cutting face by a shield excavator when rotating the operating chamber, by rotating the chamber after a mud water chamber installed in the cylindrical body is filled with mud slurry and eliminating the hydraulic pressure variation of the slurry at the cutting face. CONSTITUTION:A mud chamber 44 is provided as a water chamber in the cylindrical body 1 at the circumference of an operating chamber 2. And an inlet or outlet 43 is formed and closed with a manhole 45 so as to enable to supply or discharge mud slurry into or from the mud chamber 44. When replacing bits 9 after excavating works, the cutter arm 8 is fastened and recessed from the opening 12 of the operating chamber 2 into the operating chamber 2 together with the cutter drive device 7. The inlet and outlet 43 is shut by the manhole 45 to fill the mud chamber 44 with mud slurry. Next, the operating chamber 2 is rotated and the cutter arm 8 is contained in the mud chamber 44. Then the mud slurry is discharged from the mud chamber 44 and the manhole 45 is removed to replace the bits 9 by operators entered from the inlet 43 or other ways. In this way, the hydraulic pressure variation against the cutting face 13 can be eliminated. |
