To process unusable fluorescent compact lamps, the lamp glass is separated through mechanical action on the plastics housing by an energy feed. The electrical components and the gas discharge tube are separated after the soldered bonds have been broken by heat at the screw socket at the plastics housing (9), and the screw socket is taken from the carrier plate with the transformer and the connection clips.The connecting wires (7, 7') of the gas discharge tubes are cut, and the gas discharge tube is withdrawn from its mechanical holder. The tube is broken by a fluid and the glass fragments are washed by the fluid.All the separate recovered fractions are passed to a recovery station or to a dump.
