PURPOSE: To provide a method for especially improving the quality like mechanical properties of a single-layered or multilayered film which is at least partially constituted of thermoplastically processable starch and to obtain the single- layered or multilayered film having at least one layer at least partially including thermoplastically processable starch and having improved mechanical properties. CONSTITUTION: In a method for especially improving the quality like mechanical properties of a single-layered or multilayered film having at least one layer at least partially constituted of thermoplastically processable starch, the film is uniaxially or biaxially stretched after production.
