PURPOSE: To quantitatively analyze the strength of a cell membrane by determining the number of all healthy cells at a selected time interval by use of a focusing light having specified frequency and energy intensity. CONSTITUTION: A passage for epi-irradiating light is opened for a predetermined time, and cell attack stimulation is activated within the epi-irradiating square area on a cell microsample image. The epi-irradiating light passage is then closed, and a transillumination microsample image is digitized for a fixed time at regular intervals. The value of image pixels within the cell attack area is averaged, and the pixel average is compared as a continuous digitized image for a fixed time. For the image of each digitized trans-irradiation microsample, the average value of all pixels within the square cell attach area is defined as response area light intensity, and converted into relative response area optical intensity by a prescribed formula.
