RECORDING METHOD FOR MAGNETO-OPTICAL RECORDING MEDIUM

PURPOSE:To make it possible to record recording bits smaller than the spot diameter of a light beam and to greatly improve a recording density and to decrease the crosstalks from the adjacent recording bit at the time of the reproduction operation. CONSTITUTION:The magneto-optical disk has a recording layer 4 for magneto- optical recording of information. A reading out layer 3 is provided on the recording layer 4. The reading out layer 3 exhibits intra-surface magnetization at room temp. and has, on the other hand, the characteristic to shift from intra- surface magnetization to perpendicular magnetization when the temp. rises to a prescribed temp. or above by irradiation with the light beam. The light beam having the diameter larger than the diameter of the aperture of an objective lens 55 of an optical head is made incident on the objective lens 55 at the time of recording and reproducing of the information. Only the part having the temp. above the prescribed temp. which is near the central part of the temp. distribution by the light beam is made to contribute to the recording by utilizing the temp. distribution at the time of the recording operation.
