PURPOSE:To suppress the generation of the shift of recording dots due to the fluctuations of a scanning speed caused by the fluctuations of use environmental conditions in a recording apparatus scanning a carriage loaded with a plurality of recording heads with respect to recording paper. CONSTITUTION:A photosensor 112 is provided to a carriage 102 and members 110, 111 to be detected are provided on both sides of a recording area so as to provide an interval A between both members and the moving time of the carriage 102 over the distance A is detected on the basis of the output of the photosensor. A scanning speed is confirmed on the basis of the moving time and, by advancing respective heads 101A-101D in appropriate timing, the generation of the shift of recording dots between the respective heads due to the fluctuations of the scanning speed is prevented. |
