PURPOSE:To automatically generate the index document wherein optionally specified index words and corresponding pages in the document are paired by providing a storage control means which newly stores index document data, generated by an index document generating means, in a document storage means. CONSTITUTION:A page quantity control register 21 controls the number of pages of a prepared document and sends its output data to a document memory 18, a table-of-contents index memory 19, and an index memory 20. Further, an external storage device 22 is connected to the memory 18 and contents written mutually in the data table-of-contents memory 19 and index memory 20 are sent to and stored in the document memory 18. Further, the external storage device 22 is connected to the document memory 18 and data are mutually read and written. If identical expressions are present in the document, the index document wherein respective pages read in by the expressions are made to correspond to one common expression can automatically be generated. |
