A method for automated plant tissue culture propagation including the steps of providing plant tissue culture including clusters of meristematic areas, transporting the plant tissue culture under aseptic conditions to a separation apparatus (22), dividing the clusters of meristems into propagules of substantially uniform size in the separation apparatus (22) under aseptic conditions, transporting the propagules under aseptic conditions to a dispensing apparatus (56), and aseptically dispensing the propagules to a culture vessel for growth.
