<p>A recombinant human interleukin 6 with a homogeneous N-terminus, comprising a peptide molecular species wherein the N-terminus is Val and which is modified with a saccharide chain; and a process for producing the interleukin 6 which comprises culturing animal cells transformed by the DNA which codes for a fusion protein composed of a human interleukin 6 wherein the N-terminus is Val and a signal peptide other than the one intrinsic to a human interleukin 6 and collecting the interleukin 6 from the medium. <IMAGE></p>
