PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium excellentin oxidation resistance and which is hardly deteriorated with lapse of time by surface-treating the ferromagnetic fine metal particle with an org. acid such as 2- hydroxynicotinic acid. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic layer 2 consisting essentially of magnetic powder and binder is formed on a nonmagnetic substrate 1, and a back-coat layer 3 is provided. The ferromagnetic fine metal particle is surface-treated with 2-hydroxynicotinic acid as the heterocyclic aromatic org. acid having nitrogen atom in the benzene skeleton. The magnetic characteristic is not deteriorated with lapse of time by oxidation, etc. Besides, when the coating metal is formed from the fine particle, a ferromagnetic fine metal particle for the magnetic recording medium is obtained. |
