The method includes water being passed at low pressure through a heat exchanger unit (4) which is also supplied with a heated fluid to bring the water to a predetermined temperature. The heated water is then raised to a predetermined higher pressure.A low-pressure water supply (1,2,16) delivers the water to the exchanger (4). The water passes through the exchanger, to which heat exchange fluid is supplied by a separate circuit (5), and is delivered to a pressurising unit (12). A reservoir (10) may be situated between the outlet of the exchanger and the inlet of the pressurising unit.
