<p>The hand (20) includes first (22), second (24), third (26), fourth (28) and fifth (30) metacarpals and a carpus comprising eight bones, including the trapezium (32). Some physical conditions, e.g., arthritis, cancer, trauma, etc, necessitate arthroplastic surgery to prosthetically improve the articular surfaces between the first metacarpal (22) and the trapezium (32). A trapezium implant (38) is used as a resurfacing implant for the trapezium (32).</p> |
