The support has deposited on it a luminous substance which can easily be seen by the human eye either directly of by means of a detector. The substance(s) are dissolved in the light conductors by specific illumination. The substances may be fluorescent or phosphorescent, and the light conductors may be polymer or mineral fibre optic type with a jump or gradient indices. The phosphorescent substances have a long life and the fluorescent substances have a short relaxation time. USE/ADVANTAGE Provides simple, reliable and effective method for marking surfaces.
