PURPOSE:To detect a stable pattern for a long period by marking a ground pattern on sheet conveying means in image forming means on the upstream side of a conveying direction, and marking a deviated registration detecting pattern on the ground pattern by image forming means on the downstream side. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of image forming means 2 (K, C, M, Y) for sequentially forming different monochromatic images on a record sheet basing on picture information are arranged along a conveying route of sheet conveying means 1 for holding and conveying the sheet. A deviated registration detection pattern sequentially marked on the means 1 is detected by detecting means 3. Image forming timings of the means 2 are corrected by correcting means 4 basing on detected data. In this apparatus, a ground pattern 6 is marked on the means 1 by the means 2 on the upstream side of a conveying direction. On the other hand, a detected pattern 5 is marked on the pattern 6 by the means 2 on the downstream side. |
