Continuous mfr. of thermoplastic sheet - uses double belt press with material passing around heated drum and then a cooling drum with curvature in the opposite direction

In the mfr. of a continuous sheet of thermoplastic (6) the material is pressed between two endless steel belts (4,7) passing around a heating drum (2) and immediately afterwards is cooled while being curved in the opposite direction. The material (6) length in contact with the drum (2) depends on the material thickness. Also claimed is a process plant comprising a double belt press for initially heating and then cooling the compressed material. Both belts pass around the heating drum and then the cooling drum. USE/ADVANTAGE - Prodn. of continuous sheet material, e.g. floor or wall covering. Creates clean sheet edges without resorting to cutting.
