PURPOSE:To obtain transmission corresponding to running load by determining transmission schedule for actual running in an automatic transmission on the basis of a running load and a transmission schedule and accurately assuming a running load. CONSTITUTION:In an automatic transmission control device for an automobile which makes transmission on the base of not only a running load but also assumed vehicle weight and running load, a vehicle weight assuming means 106 assumes vehicle weight of the automobile. In an acceleration input means 102, an acceleration signal is received. In a load assuming means 110, a running load is assumed on the basis of the obtained vehicle weight, output torque and acceleration. In a memory means, plural transmission schedules are stored. In a gear position determining means 109, one of the transmission schedules is selected on the basis of the obtained vehicle weight and running load and thus a gear position is determined on the basis of the selected transmission schedule. Accordingly in order to make transmission on the basis of the assumed vehicle weight and running load, an optimal transmission operational performance. |
