A device for releasably clamping a flat element, esp. filter fleece, has a peripheral U-shaped frame, between the two limbs of which is inserted a shape-stable or slightly elastic clamping strip which has a width greater than the distance between the limbs and which is supported on one limb, by one of its longitudinal edges in a forward position in the removal direction, and on the other limb, by its other longitudinal edge in a rearward position in the removal direction, indirectly via the flat element clamped against this other limb. The novelty is that (a) clamping strip (6) is provided with a stiffening element (8) in the form of a lever arm; and (b) the frame (2,4,5) and/or the clamping strip (6) has, at least locally, a certain elasticity. Pref. the stiffening element (8) consists of one or more longitudinally extending bends or profiles of the strip or a profile which is mounted on the strip. USE/ADVANTAGE - Device is used e.g. for clamping suspended nonwoven material webs, gauze or fly-screen windows, foil holding frames for greenhouses, conservatories and the like. The device facilitates assembly and disassembly and allows reuse of the frame and clamping strip and separate disposal of the flat element.
