<p>The present invention relates to a device for tying bales of industrial or domestic waste. The device is characterised in that it comprises, at least at one of the lateral parts of the binder (1; 2) which are substantially parallel to the direction of a compression force of the bale (B), a means for fastening one end of the binder to the other end thereof and which is housed in a sleeve (11) so as to immobilise the relevant end of the binder through the action of a reaction force opposed to the compression force of the bale (B) and resulting from the elasticity of the latter after release of the compression force.
