PRODUCTION OF AROMATIC KETONE COMPOUND

PURPOSE:To obtain an aromatic ketone compound by smooth acylation of an aromatic compound in the presence of a Lewis acid using, as acylating agent, a carboxylic acid or trisubstituted silyl carboxylic ester. CONSTITUTION:The aromatic ketone compound can be obtained by acylating an aromatic compound with a Friedel Crafts-type acylating agent (a carboxylic acid or trisubstituted silyl carboxylic ester) in the presence of a Lewis acid catalyst in a solvent (p-trifluoromethylbenzoic acid anhydride).
