<p>PURPOSE: To obtain voice prosthesis for use as a side path between the windpipe and the esophagus of a patient subsequent to laryngectomy structured in such a way that its entirety can be implanted in the body while a frequency range of the voice prosthesis can be matched to that of natural voice, as well. CONSTITUTION: The voice prosthesis has a tubular metallic part 1 equipped with a funnel-shaped enlargement 2 opening in the direction of the end of the windpipe. At least one member 3 is installed which generates an audible sound being vibrated by an air flow passing the prosthesis in the air path from the windpipe to the esophagus. Thus, this voice prosthesis allows a patient who has gone through laryngectomy to generate more natural voice than conventional models.</p> |
