PURPOSE:To suppress the generation of uneven flow rate of raw gas by providing one or plural mechanisms for increasing the flow resistance in the distributed gas passages between a distribution pipe and a collection pipe. CONSTITUTION:A raw gas 12 is introduced into a distribution pipe 4 from a raw gas inlet 9 at the lower end of a container 1. The raw gas is then passed through a distribution branch pipe 5 provided with an orifice 16 having an appropriate reduction of area and introduced into a reforming tube 3. While the gas 12 flows through a catalyst bed 7, the gas is heated by the combustion gas 14 flowing outside, catalytically reformed by a reforming catalyst and converted into a reformed gas consisting essentially of hydrogen. The reformed gas 13 is collected by a collection pipe 6 and discharged from an outlet 10. Consequently, since the orifice 16 is provided in the branch pipe 5, the flow resistance of the entire process gas passage is increased, and the flow rate of the gas is hardly affected by the variance in the flow resistance of the catalyst bed 7. |
