PURPOSE:To efficiently control the polymerization for polyarylene sulfide of high quality by conducting composition analysis for the gas components in the vapor phase inside a reaction vessel during polymerization between a dihaloaromatic compound and an alkali metal sulfide in a polar organic solvent and by using the results. CONSTITUTION:During polymerization between a dihaloaromatic compound such as p-dichlorobenzene and an alkali metal sulfide such as lithium sulfide in a polar organic solvent such as N-methylpyrrolidone, composition analysis for the gas components such as for the concentration change in the dihaloaromatic compound, decomposition products such as thiophenol, present in the vapor phase inside a reaction vessel, is conducted, and using the results, the polymerization for the polyarylene sulfide is controlled. |
