The machine has a coil consisting of winding elements (8) inserted in slots. An intermediate layer (13) is introduced between the winding elements. The layer consists of a bag which extends around an underside of a winding along a bottom (14) of a groove, between a covering (17) of insulation (18) of each winding and a wall (12) of its groove (15). The vertical part of the bag is filled with hardenable resin and compressed on insertion of the winding so that some resin in the plastic condition is squeezed through holes in the foil, and bonds the bag to the winding when hard. ADVANTAGE - Easily installed inserts give firm retention of windings in their slots with additional security against longitudinal displacement, and without impregnation of entire machine.
