<p>PURPOSE:To prevent damage to a regenerator of a glass melting furnace due to carry-over by attaching a detachable filter to the port, making the carry-over adhere thereto and removing it. CONSTITUTION:When a glass batch 6 is charged into a melting tank 2, a part of the glass batch becomes carry-over and is blown together with exhaust gas into the port 4. A filter 10 composed of a silicon carbide filter brick is set to the port 4 so as to catch the carry-over. If the permeability of the filter 10 is reduced to <= a prescribed value, the filter 10 is horizontally moved by a fitment and exchanged. Exhaust gas filtered through the filter 10 is allowed to come into a regenerator 3 and subjected to heat-exchange through checker bricks 13 piled up in a chimney-like shape. During this process, carry-over remaining without being caught by the filter 10 is made to adhere to the checker bricks 13 and caught thereby. Since the greater part of the carry-over is, however, already caught by the filter 10, the amount caught by the checker bricks 13 is very small. The exhaust gas is discharged to a flue 14.</p> |
